The cleaning crew enters the train as soon as the last passenger has left.
Our shinkansen train is already passed by the follow-on train (and it's passing really fast).
This was our train from Sendai to Fukushima.
The next shinkansen even has a foldable step at the entrance.
And even a fully automatic washing basin including a fan.
Working on yesterday's photos.
The minibar server has a funny penguin on her skirt.
Our shinkansen line has a cool logo on the trains.
Terminal station Shinjo.
And then we have to switch to a local train, but which one?
Looks like it will be this train, it says "Naruko-Onsen".
That's a very special perspective to look at a Shinkansen train.
You can walk around the whole Shinkansen train at this station.
Antje is posing with some local guys for a photo.
A smoking cabin on the train platform with a very long exhaust pipe.
We're on a single track to Naruko.
This is our room at the ryokan Bentenkaku in Naruko.
We have a nice view over the valley.
And our own little hot spring bath.
This shop seems to sell about everything that one would want to buy.
Even the phone booth is shaped as a Kokeshi doll.
Wonderful house facade.
This is the Takinoyu public bath, with steaming hot source water.
These are the pipes that feed the hot water into the bath house.
Of course Naruko also has a small shrine.
Small but also beautiful.
And nicely layed out.
This town has steaming sources everywhere.
But it seems as if the golden times are long gone in Naruko.
At least they have some funny ducks on the construction fence.
And they feature balloons on the manhole covers.
They even have a ski slope near Naruko, but why is this guy aiming his gun into the direction of the skier?
Even the poles of the street rail look like Kokeshi dolls.
And if you have cold hands, you can warm them up in one of the public hot springs.
Dressing up for the night at the ryokan.
Ready to go to the hot spring at our ryokan.
Those outdoor hot springs have an additional appeal.
Well, we were hungry, but that looks like a huge amount of delicious food.
So many delicious and some unknown food items.
This fish was our largest challenge about how it should be eaten.
Again, working on publishing our photos from today.
And then another bath before we went to bed.
On the next morning we have to leave again, so we're packing up everything.
But before we leave, we enjoy our Japanese breakfast.
And then a last view on our ryokan before we're taken to the train station.
The inside of the Naruko train station is almost a small art gallery.
In that setting, waiting for your train is no longer boring.
Also the outside of the station is pretty nice.
This is an alternative to put together a bench - by ropes!
And here comes our train.
The conductor has his own seat in the front of the train.
And again we're travelling on one of those small single track routes.
